Public Officials to Discuss Future of Energy, Jobs at Pre-Election Forum

The Consumer Energy Alliance presents the Pre-Election Energy and Jobs Forum, featuring a variety of public officials and business leaders speaking on the future of economic development and job creation resulting from the energy sector. The forum will also feature a panel discussion with business leaders from allied industries to discuss employment trends and job creation in energy producing regions.

Public officials Texas Congressmen Gene Green (D- 29th District), Pete Olson (R-22nd District), Kevin Brady (R- 8th District) and State Representative Carol Alvarado (D- Houston) will speak at the event. Educational speaker Dr. Thomas Tunstall of the University of Texas San Antonio will present on the economics and workforce impact of the Eagle Ford shale.

Business leaders speaking at the forum will include:

  • Paul Caplan, Rigzone
  • Leodoro Martinez, Eagle Ford Shale Consortium
  • John LaRue, Port of Corpus Christi
  • John Esparza, Texas Motor Transportation Association
  • Jim Rich, Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce
  • Former Representative Kip Averitt

Congressmen Green and Brady will be available for questions at approximately 9:45 a.m., following their prepared remarks. Congressman Olson will speak at 10:20 a.m. and will be available following his remarks. Rep. Alvarado will speak at 11:30 a.m. and will be available following her remarks. Business leaders will be available at various times throughout the program.

The Pre-Election Energy and Jobs Forum will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Westin Galleria on 5060 West Alabama, Houston, Texas 77056.
