Total Starts Up Taps at Pazflor Field
Total has commenced production from the Pazflor field offshore Angola. Production from the field will gradually ramp up to its full production capacity of 220,000 bopd over the coming months, commented the operator.
Field development of Pazflor comprises 112 miles (180 kilometers) of lines connecting 49 subsea wells, 10,000 metric tons of subsea equipment and the Pazflor FPSO. The FPSO, moored by 16 connectors, is considered the largest in the world. Weighing more than 120,000 metric tons, the vessel can store up to 1.9 million barrels of oil. Oil is exported to shuttle tankers via an off loading buoy; gas is re-injected into the reservoir, but can also be exported to the Angola LNG plant once the latter becomes operational.
Total E&P Angola operates Block 17 with a 40% interest, while Sonangol is the concession holder. The other partners are Statoil (23.3%), Esso Exploration Angola (20%) and BP Exploration (16.67%).
