This position is a fixed term contract for four years and will be working for the first 18 months in Houston or the UK and then the project will be transferred to Qatar .
For the first 18 months the candidate will have to go on a single status on a 12/2 rotation. Whilst in Qatar, married status will be offered. You will receive a monthly salary along with a comprehensive benefits package which will include housing, transportation etc. The salary and package will be discussed in depth with the candidate at interview.
Main Responsibilities :
- Lead the Owner's Compressors and Mechanical Equipment Engineering effort for the execution phase of a $1.0bn+ CapEx project in Ras Laffan City, Qatar.
- The objective of the project is to recover LNG boil-off gas being flared at the LNG loading terminal.
- The Rotating Equipment Engineer will be based at the EPCm contractor's offices and then transfer to the Site when engineering is essentially complete.
- The biggest challenge is the lack of EPCm contractor's and equipment vendors' skilled and experienced resources.
- Primary responsibility is the review of all Compressors' engineering deliverables of the EPCm contractor, Compressors' vendor documentation, and provision of timely guidance to the EPCm contractor and compressor vendor on all Rotating Equipment engineering related matters.
- Secondary responsibility is the review of all other mechanical equipment deliverables, e.g., cranes, air coolers, vessels and nitrogen generation package.
- Review of vendor design documentation and incorporation of vendor's design into the detailed project engineering.
- Support the other PMT engineering disciplines and construction, commissioning and operations teams
- Interface with the other Rotating Equipment engineers in conjunction with the Project Interface Engineer.
Primary Accountabilities :
- Reports to Engineering Manager.
- Coordinates the Compressors' and other mechanical equipment engineering design of the compressor vendor and EPCm contractor
- Reviews and monitors project compressors and other mechanical equipment engineering deliverables, vendor data and design changes.
- Coordinates the compressor and other mechanical equipment engineering aspects of the project to ensure the technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule.
- Monitor Contractor's performance and provide advice as necessary to ensure Company's design philosophy and specifications are achieved.
- Monitor and review Contractor's compressor construction effort and make recommendations to Field Engineering Manager and Construction Manager.
- Provide timely review of Contractor's and vendor's compressor designs and deliverables.
- Provides timely and coordinated response to EPCm and construction contractors' queries regarding mechanical equipment engineering
- Provide technical support and advice to project procurement and construction activities.
- Monitor Contractor's and vendors' quality control effort.
- Witness compressor tests wherever required and review results of all tests and inspections related to compressors and other mechanical equipment
- Provide start-up and commissioning support to company.
Experience and Qualifications :
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years technical experience in Rotating Equipment discipline with minimum five (5) years specific involvement in project design, procurement, construction, and start-up for major process facilities, preferably working on behalf of an owner.
- Experience with first tier contractors and worldwide suppliers, in particular those involved in the construction of major onshore oil and gas facilities, preferably working on behalf of an owner.
- Experience required in design and construction of compressors
- Familiar with applicable international codes and standards.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good team and interpersonal skills
- Must be flexible and able to adjust priorities according to project demands.
- Ability to make independent decisions on planning, organizing and coordinating solutions to complex problems
